Responsible for recording the images of a film in accordance with the director’s vision. Guiding the creative decisions made by grip and electric departments.

Primary administrator on the film set - breakdowns and creates a preliminary shooting schedule; Manage the day-to-day execution of the costume designer’s vision; On standby, watching talent perform and making adjustments as necessary

Provides the guiding creative vision for the production.

Operates the slate at the beginning of each take and marks the actors as needed. Organizing the camera crew’s gear, keeping records, and assisting in any general camera team tasks; Work with the director and director of photography to craft an overall look for a film

Leads the process of capturing audio on set. Operates boom microphones, selecting and placing radio microphones, and maintaining the audio equipment.

Controlling the camera during takes.

Controls the camera during complex takes. Skilled at creating smooth and precise movements and providing creative direction for complex shots.

Oversees the makeup department. Planning makeup designs for the leading and supporting actors.

Specializes in achieving looks that go well-beyond the standard make-up (e.g. wounds, bruises, burns, age transformation, etc.)
